Introduction

The Technology in Context Research Group was founded in 2001 as a forum for academics in the ICT Group and elsewhere to discuss the relationship of the information and communication technologies with society, politics, the humanities and the creative arts.

Aims

  • to promote contextualised research into the information and communication technologies; contexts include, but are not restricted to, the social, historical, philosophical, and creative
  • to provide support to group members developing expertise in such research areas

Objectives

  • to meet at approximately monthly intervals to present informal papers, discuss seminal research, and provide an opportunity for peer review of collective and individual work of the group
  • to generate and distribute a series of internal reports
  • to support and encourage Group members in developing appropriate reports into refereed published papers
  • to disseminate information within and beyond the Group on significant research in the field
  • to hold an annual interdisciplinary Research Day, with the participation of interested colleagues from other areas of the University
